Abstract

Considers the policy implications for archives of trends resulting from the infusion of information technology into the scholarly research process. Considers the future use of existing research networks by humanities scholars by examining 3 elements: how scholars are currently using existing research networks; the near term anticipated uses by humanities scholars of existing research networks; and the trends in information technology that most affect humanities scholarship. Recommends: establishment of humanities information collaboration and new infrastructures; surveys of researchers; building of electronic libraries; improvement of information access and retrieval tools; and the promotion of wider access to broader bandwidth connectivity
