Abstract

The community network (or Free-Net) model has many applications for health service organizations wishing to disseminate information to a broad base of the population. Discusses the development of community networks and the benefits they offer health information providers and members of the community, in an era when increasing emphasis is being placed on the individual's responsibility for health and wellbeing. The evolution of the partnership between health information providers and community networks is illustrated by an account of the development of the Saskatoon Free-Net's Health and Wellness area (in Saskatchewan, Canada)
