Abstract

In conventional database systems the information processing assumes that the information is exact and well-formulated. But in reality there are many vague data. We need new information retrieval models on new computers to serve the real library user. This article aims to combine recent ideas from neurological research with new developments in computing science to organise libraries of the future. One of the human mind's attributes is its ability to manipulate imprecise data. The theory of fuzzy sets provides a mathematical basis for dealing with uncertainty. We must incorporate the fuzzy relation into the database systems and allow natural language with its vague terms and create fuzzy distributed databases
