Abstract

Reviews 3 multimedia CD-ROM Atlases: Microsoft's Encarta Virtual Globe (http://encarta.msn.com); Rand McNally's New Millennium World Atlas (http://www.randmenally.com); and Creative Wonders' 3D Atlas '98 (http://www.3datlas.com) and compare them to printed and online atlases. All three CD-ROM atlases offer a variety of maps from topographical to political to statistical and all 3 map collections can be integrated into atlases. Describes the map personalization features, statistical data available and the many textual and multimedia enhancements of the CD-ROMs. All of them also have links from the CD-ROM to their Web sites for updating
