Abstract

State of the art review of the needs of users of chemical information online databases. Accuracy, comparability, completeness, consistency, and timeliness of the information are high on the list of desiderata of these users. Data from various sources should also be merged more easily. Users show great concern for the pricing levels and especially for online pricing levels. The properties of compounds, including stereochemistry, 3D structure information, economic information, toxicity, and environmental behaviour, must be made more searchable. The user friendliness of the services is of a high priority
