Abstract

The original definition of ideology was "the science of ideas". The word now carries a pathological stigma that has little to so with its origins. Ideology in universal classification is described and the manner in which it is embedded in the ordering of disciplines, mirroring the belief systems of society. Some examples are given from the major systems, which reflect not only the biases of the composers, but the historical and cultural paradigms of their time
