Abstract

Examines subject descriptors pertaining to the names of wars. Terms are affected by: point of view as terminology used to name wars is often euphemistic or politically correct, time as terms used change with the passage of time, place as terms can be affected by local perspectives, and the searchers' aims as their agenda can affect their perspective. Subject access should be improved by use of as many of the variant names of wars as possible
