Abstract

Die Aufmerksamkeit der bibliothekarischen Fachöffentlichkeit konzentrierte sich in Deutschland hinsichtlich des Angebots wissenschaftlicher Zeitschriften in elektronischer Form in den vergangenen Jahren fast ausschließlich auf das Angebot der aktuellen Jahrgänge. In den Natur- und Ingenieurwissenschaften, deren Bedarf ihren Schwerpunkt bei der allerneuesten Literatur hat, mag dies den Interessen der Wissenschaftler entsprechen. Dagegen vermissen Historiker und Philologen, aber auch Mathematiker und Volkswirte bei den elektronischen Angeboten häufig gerade die älteren Jahrgänge. Der große Erfolg elektronischer Versionen bei den Naturwissenschaftlern und das häufig zurückhaltende Interesse bei Geistes- und Sozialwissenschaftlern läßt sich vermutlich zu einem erheblichen Teil durch die fehlende zeitliche Tiefe der bestehenden Angebote erklären. Im Rahmen des DFG-Projekts 'Retrospektive Digitalisierung von Bibliotheksbeständen' werden seit 1997 auch in Deutschland erste Versuche zur elektronischen Erfassung älterer Zeitschriftenliteratur unternommen
