Abstract
Im Herbst 1999 hat die Diebold Deutschland GmbH eine Studie über die Zukunft der Verlagsindustrie veröffentlicht. Auf etwa 400 Seiten wird ein Überblick über den augenblicklichen Status Quo der Verlagsindustrie im Internet gegeben und ein Ausblick auf die Verlagslandschaft im nächsten Jahrtausend gewagt. Die Auswirkungen des Internet auf Selbstverständnis, Geschäftsmodelle, Marketing, Mitarbeiter und Organisation werden so gravierend sein, dass sie nur mit einer strategischen Neuausrichtung zu bewerkstelligen sein werden. Die in der Studie entwickelt Vision des Online-Publishing in Partnernetzwerken ist als Orientierungshilfe für Verlage gedacht, die heute noch nicht ihren Platz im Online-Business gefunden haben.
