Abstract
Es gibt drei Mechanismen, über die Wissen in das Gehirn gelangt. Es ist einmal das durch die Evolution in den Genen gespeicherte Wissen über die Welt, wie es im Phänotyp jedes neu ausgereiften Gehirns exprimiert ist. Zum Zweiten gibt es das während der frühen Ontogenese erworbene Erfahrungswissen, das sich in strukturellen Änderungen der Gehirnarchitektur manifestiert - die übrigens kaum von den genetisch bedingten zu unterscheiden sind. Drit ten s ist es das durch Lernen erworbene Wissen, das sich in funktionellen Änderungen bereits bestehender Verbindungen ausdrückt. Auch die lernbedingten Veränderungen führen natürlich zu strukturellen Veränderungen auf der molekularen Ebene, die allerdings nur mit hoch auflösenden Mikroskopen identifiziert werden können. In ihrer Gesamtheit bestimmen diese drei Wissensquellen die funktionelle Architektur des jeweiligen Gehirns und damit das Programm, nach dem das betrachtete Gehirn arbeitet
