Abstract
Die politischen Parteien der USA überbieten sich seit Jahren gegenseitig in Beteuerungen, für wie bedeutsam sie die Möglichkeit des allgemeinen Zugangs zu den neuen Technologien in der Bildung halten. Wenn man jedoch genauer hinsieht, erkennt man, dass sich das, was unter neuer Technologie verstanden wird, bisher in der Hauptsache auf die Bereitstellung von Hardware und die Internet-Verkabelung der Schulen beschränkt und die Veränderungen, die die neuen Technologien für die Institutionen und Menschen mit sich bringen, in der öffentlichen Diskussion weitgehend ausgeklammert sind
