Abstract

Since 1974 there has been a surge of bibliographic activity in the field of Canadian art and architectural literature, including the creation of databases. Urges Canadian art librarians; to lobby publishers to develop more precise index terminology; to improve indexing and abstracting coverage of Canadian art periodical literatdurea, and to use sophisticated computer technology now in place to prepare exhibition histories, catalogues and indexes while retaining traditional respect for content, bibliographic standards, and for the experience and specialized knowledge of qualified bibliographers and indexers
