Abstract
Das Internet ist Ausdruck und zugleich bestes Beispiel für die Überschwemmung der Gesellschaft mit Information. Wissensmanagement beschäftigt sich damit, wie man eben diese Informationsflut effizient beherrschen kann. Wenn man so will, so baut das Wissensmanagement Dämme, die die Informationsüberschwemmung in Schach zu halten vermag. Auf diese Weise berührt das Wissensmanagement traditionelle kommunikationswissenschaftliche Forschungsinteressen wie Informationsselektion oder Wissenserwerb durch Medien. Allerdings beschäftigen sich bislang nur wenige kommunikationswissenschaftliche Publikationen mit diesem, ursprünglich auf der organisatorischen bzw. betrieblichen Ebene verankerten Konzept.' Kaum jemals wird auch untersucht, was das Internet selbst zur effizienten Nutzbarmachung beisteuert oder beisteuern kann. Der Artikel hat somit zwei Ziele: Erstens soll aufgezeigt werden, dass die Kommunikationswissenschaft und insbesondere die Rezeptionsforschung die Diskussion und die Erforschung von Wissensmanagements zu unrecht verpasst, weil originär kommunikationswissenschaftliche Fragestellungen angesprochen und etliche fachbezogene Rezeptions- und Wirkungsansätze berührt werden. Konsequenterweise beschäftigen wir uns dabei weniger mit dem betrieblichen als vielmehr mit dem individuellen bzw. persönlichen Wissensmanagement' und rücken so die Forschungsfragen rund um den Rezipienten in den Vordergrund. Zweitens wird untersucht, welche Hilfen das Internet selbst zur Bewältigung der Informationsflut bereit stellt bzw. stellen könnte. Insbesondere mit dem zuletzt genannten Punkt werden Entwicklungsperspektiven und -chancen des Internet diskutiert
