Abstract

Zahlreiche Experten aus den Bereichen Wissenschaft, Verlagswesen, Bibliothekswesen, Zeitschriftenagenturen und Unternehmensberatung wurden im Rahmen einer Delphi-Studie in drei Runden zu den Themenbereichen allgemeine Entwicklungstendenzen in der wissenschaftlichen Information und Kommunikation, Zeitschrift der Zukunft, Zeitschriftenkrise, Archivierung, Kosten- und Bezugsmodelle befragt. Die Resultate zeigen, dass wir uns derzeit in einem Substitutionsprozess befinden, bei dem alternative Publikations- und Kommunikationskanäle immer häufiger Funktionen übernehmen, die traditionell von der wissenschaftlichen Fachzeitschrift geleistet werden. Digitale Replikate von Printzeitschriften werden als Übergangserscheinung identifiziert. In Zukunft werden diese Doppelgänger abgelöst durch »echte« elektronische Zeitschriften, die die vollen Möglichkeiten der neuen Technologien ausschöpfen
