Abstract
EBSCO Publishing ermöglicht jetzt speziell für Kunden in Deutschland und seinen Nachbarländern, die Bereitstellung von Datensätzen im MAB-Format - das bevorzugte Datenformat vieler Bibliotheken in Deutschland. Hierzu arbeitet EBSCO (www.ebsco.com) mit der ZDB (Zeitschriftendatenbank) zusammen, einer Organisation, die bibliographische Dienstleistungen für Bibliotheken anbietet, einschließlich der Umformatierung von Datensätzen des US-MARC-Formats in das MAB-Format. Die ZDB ist die weltweit größte Datenbank für Titel- und Besitznachweise fortlaufender Sammelwerke. Dazu gehören nicht nur Druckwerke, sondern auch Titel elektronischer Zeitschriften. Die ZDB befindet sich in Trägerschaft der Staatsbibliothek zu Berlin, Systembetreiberin ist "Die Deutsche Bibliothek". Die ZDB stellt ihren Mitgliedern ein wöchentliches Titel-Update inkl. der umformatierten EBSCO-Datensätzen zur Verfügung. Bibliotheken können diese Titel in ihr lokales Bibliotheksystem einfügen. Der Bibliotheksnutzer, dem hierdurch im lokalen Bibliothekssystem angezeigt wird, welche Zeitschriften über EBSCOhost® zur Verfügung stehen, kann sich direkt per Mausklick dorthin verlinken lassen. Die ZDB enthält mehr als eine Million Titel seit Beginn des 16. Jahrhunderts, aus allen Ländern, in allen Sprachen und weist zu diesen den Besitz in ca. 4.300 deutschen und einigen ausländischen Bibliotheken nach, mit ca. 5,3 Millionen Besitznachweisen. Inzwischen beinhaltet die ZDB auch mehr als 13.000 bibliographische Datensätze elektronischer Zeitschriften. Die ZDB ist gratis unter www.zdb-opac.de zugänglich.
