Abstract

1911 wurde das Luftschiff LZ8 Deutschland beim Start von starken Seitenwinden erfasst, schlug dabei auf die Hallenwand und wurde zerstört. Bis dahin hatte die Deutsche Luftschiff Aktiengesellschaft (DELAG) mit drei Schiffen über 60 Fahrten in Deutschland bei schönem Wetter gemacht - und dabei alle drei Schiffe verloren, allerdings ohne dass dabei jemand zu Schaden gekommen war. Spätestens jetzt stellte man sich bei der DELAG die Existenzfrage. Konsequent ging man daran, das erfolgskritische Wissen zu identifizieren und weiterzuentwickeln. Zunächst verstärkte die DELAG die Ausbildung aller Mitarbeiter. Bisher hatte man sich vor allem über Funktionen und Komponenten der Maschine Gedanken gemacht, aber sehr wenig Erfahrung und Kenntnisse vom Fliegen selbst. Man sammelte konsequent alles Wissen, das zu dieser Zeit über Fliegen vorlag. Die Themen Auftrieb, Vortrieb und Steuerung wurden anhand vieler Experimente und Varianten durchexerziert. Man baute Modelle und führte Versuche in einfachen Windkanälen durch, man flog mit Segelfliegern und wertete diese Erkenntnisse aus. Man richtete sogar einen eigenen Wetterdienst ein, um die Prognosesicherheit zu erhöhen. Der Erfolg zeigte sich rasch. Bis zum Beginn des ersten Weltkriegs konnte die DELAG 1588 Fahrten mit 34028 Passagieren durchführen, ohne dass ein einziger Passagier dabei zu Schaden gekommen wäre (allerdings verlor sie noch einmal ein Schiff aufgrund eines technischen Fehlers). Über 10 Jahre später war die Unsicherheit im internationalen Flugverkehr immer noch sehr hoch. Die amerikanische Shenandoa zerbrach 1925 in der Luft. Die englische R101 verunglückte im Oktober 1930 beim Flug nach Indien in der Nähe von Paris. Da gegen schaffte es die Deutsche Luftschiff Aktien Gesellschaft (DELAG) ab 1929 bis 1937 auch den regelmässigen Linienverkehr nach Süd- und Nordamerika durchzuführen. Alleine das Luftschiff LZ127 Graf Zeppelin hatte in dieser Zeit in 144 Atlantik-Überquerungen 13110 Passagieren befördert. Grundlage des Erfolg der DELAG war die Tatsache, dass das Unternehmen sein notwendiges Wissen identifizieren konnte und vom weniger notwendigen getrennt hat. Im 20 Jahrhundert fanden Menschen und Unternehmen, die das von ihnen benötigte Wissen planten und organisierten, den Weg in die Geschichtsbücher und schufen Weltunternehmen wie Daimler, Siemens oder Bosch. Im 21. Jahrhundert wird dieses Wissensmanagement Standard werden. Wer sich nicht seiner Methoden und Technologien bedient, wird nicht mehr wettbewerbsfähig sein. Wissensmanagement ist das bewußte Bemühen, Unternehmenswissen zu planen, zu entwickeln, zu verteilen und zu controllen - und zwar "ganzheitlich".
