Abstract

Nachdem mehr als 20 Jahre seit der Einführung der RSWK vergangen sind, ist die Frage wohl berechtigt, wie die RSWK oder einzelne ihrer Regeln sich bewährt haben. Dies soll hier an einem Beispiel versucht werden, indem die Ansetzungspraxis für Sprachennamen (weiterhin GN = Glottonym) im Schlagwortkatalog (SWK) nach § 701 RSWK untersucht wird. Denn dieser Paragraph will die korrekte Ansetzung von Sprachen im Schlagwörter (künftig SWW) regeln und legt dazu nicht nur die sprachliche Form, sondern auch bestimmte Prioritäten für die richtige Ansetzung bei mehreren, möglichen Namensformen fest. Gegen die Anwendung dieser Vorgaben lassen sich verschiedene Einwände erheben, die im folgenden formuliert werden sollen: 1. dass bestimmte Aussagen im Text des § 701 der RSWK die sprachlichen Gegebenheiten nicht treffen, 2. dass gegen die Logik der Prioritäten bei der Anwendung der Regeln verstoßen wird, 3. dass für die Suche mit dem Computer und das Wiederfinden der mit den SWW übermittelten Informationen die Regeln des § 701 unzweckmäßig sind, 4. dass die Bibliothekare bei der Anwendung des § 701 RSWK willkürlich verfahren.
