Abstract
Angesichts ständig wachsender Informationsmengen und immer schneller sinkender Halbwertszeit des Wissens, steigt die Bedeutung von Wissensmanagement nicht zuletzt in den Großforschungseinrichtungen. Diese Einrichtungen benötigen und produzieren stetig wachsende Mengen von Informationen und Wissen. Deshalb wird es immer wichtiger, dass bestimmte Daten wie Forschungsergebnisse oder Publikationen jedem Mitarbeiter und jeder Mitarbeiterin zur Verfügung stehen, um unnötigen Arbeitsaufwand zu vermeiden. Für den Erfolg neuer Forschungsprojekte ist es aber auch entscheidend, auf schon vorhandenes Wissen zurückgreifen zu können. Ebenso wichtig ist es, beim Ausscheiden eines Mitarbeiters das von ihm erworbene Wissen weiter in der Einrichtung zu behalten, damit es nicht verloren geht. Institute, die eine von Bund und Ländern geförderte außeruniversitäre Forschung betreiben, bezeichnet man als Großforschungseinrichtungen. Diese großen Zentren, die sich auf bestimmte Fragestellungen ausgerichtet haben, benötigen einen hohen Personaleinsatz sowie erhebliche Finanzmittel, weshalb sie von Bund und Ländern unterstützt werden. Da es sich bei Wissensmanagement in Großforschungseinrichtungen um eine neuere Fragestellung handelt, fehlt bisher jede Literatur zu diesem speziellen Thema. Grundlage dieses Beitrags ist eine Umfrage in 14 deutschen Großforschungseinrichtungen.
