"Das Fachinformationszentrum (FIZ) Karlsruhe hat sein umfassendes Angebot an Fachdatenbanken um die Patentdatenbank FRANCEPAT erweitert. FRANCEPAT ist ein kommerzieller Service, der im Auftrag des französischen Patentamtes (Institut National de la Propriété Industrielle, INPI) weltweit vertrieben wird. FRANCEPAT enthält alle seit 1966 vom INPI in Frankreich veröffentlichten Patentanmeldungen und erteilten Patente, darunter auch sämtliche zwischen 1961 und 1978 veröffentlichten speziellen pharmazeutischen Patente. Die wöchentlich aktualisierten Datenbankeinträge umfassen bibliografische und ausführliche Rechtsstandsdaten fürjedes Patent. Für Patente ab 1978 sind auch Abstracts, Deskriptoren und insgesamt über 400.700 repräsentative Zeichnungen verfügbar. Alle Einträge sind in französischer Sprache. Für den Zeitraum ab 1987 werden auch englische Deskriptoren und IPC-Codes vorgehalten. Das FIZ Karlsruhe plant, dieses Angebot aus Frankreich im Laufe des Jahres um eine weitere Datenbank mit den Volltexten französischer Patente zu erweitern. Auf die Patentinformationen kann über STN mit effizienten Suchfunktionen zugegriffen werden. Eine datenbankübergreifende Suche - etwa mit dem IPCCode - ist möglich. Wöchentliche oder monatliche Profilläufe (Alert Services) erlauben eine automatische Patentbeobachtung anhand von Patentnummern, IPC-Codes oder Fachbegriffen. Zugänglich sind die rund 220 Online-Datenbanken auf STN über proprietäre Datennetze und im Internet über »STN an the Web« mit einem üblichen WebBrowser (http://stnweb.fiz-karlsruhe.de). FRANCEPAT wird voraussichtlich zu einem späteren Zeitpunkt auch im Patent-Clustervon »STN Easy«,derWeb-Oberfläche für Anfänger und Schnellrecherchen, angeboten werden (http://stneasy.fiz-karlsruhe.de)."
