Abstract

Die Niederösterreichische Landesbibliothek hat am 25.10.1995 von der Deutschen Bibliothek in Frankfurt den Grundbestand der SWD (Schlagwortnormdatei) erworben und in die BIS-C-Katalogdatenbank der Druckschriftensammlung importiert (letztes Komplettupdate 24.11.2004); seit damals wird auch der wöchentliche Änderungsdienst der SWD in MAB (Maschinelles Austauschformat für Bibliotheken) bezogen und importiert. Die Einführung des Sacherschließungsregelwerkes RSWK (Regeln für den Schlagwortkatalog, 1. Auflage 1986) hatte bereits zuvor, zugleich mit der Einführung des Bibliotheks-Informations-Systems BIS-C 2000 der Fa. DABIS, am 1.1.1994 stattgefunden. Damals wurde mit der Onlinekatalogisierung in einer leeren Datenbank neu begonnen; der Altbestand, der durch Abschreiben des Band- bzw. Zettelkataloges in der Zeit von 1984-1993 bereits als elektronischer Katalog in einer STAIRS-Datenbank vorlag, wurde in eine eigene BIS-C 2000 Datenbank konvertiert. Im Rahmen der Übersiedlung der Niederösterreichischen Landesbibliothek in die neue Landeshauptstadt St. Pölten wurde der Benutzungsbetrieb im Herbst 1996 eingestellt und am 1.10.1997 in St. Pölten wieder aufgenommen; dieser Zeitraum wurde für die Fusion der beiden Datenbanken (Neubestand ab 1994 und Altbestand bis 1993) genutzt. Die hauptsächliche Arbeit bestand darin, die Personen-, Körperschafts- und Schlagwortdatensätze des Altbestandes von Dubletten zu befreien, mit den Normdateien bzw. den lokalen Datensätzen des Neubestandes abzugleichen und den verbleibenden Rest oberflächlich zu überarbeiten und als Altbestandsdatensätze zu kennzeichnen. Aus dem Altbestand verblieben 34.000 Personendatensätze (zuvor 45.000), 400 Körperschaftsdatensätze (zuvor 5.000) und 2.000 Schlagwortdatensätze (zuvor 25.000). Am 1.8.2000 wurden auch der Grundbestand der PND (Personennamendatei) und GKD (Gemeinsame Körperschaftsdatei) erworben und in die Katalogdatenbank integriert (letztes Kompiettupdate Mai bzw. August 2004), natürlich ebenfalls mit wöchentlichen MAB-Änderungsdiensten, wodurch sich die Zahl der lokalen Personen- und Körperschaftsdatensätze weiter reduziert hat. Die Niederösterreichische Landesbibliothek war also spätestens seit diesem Zeitpunkt Vollanwender der Regelwerke RAK-WB (Regeln für die Alphabetische Katalogisierung in Wissenschaftlichen Bibliotheken) und RSWK sowie der Normdateien PND, GKD und SWD.
