Abstract
Vor einiger Zeit fand ich in mehreren Bibliothekszeitschriften fast gleichzeitig einen Hinweis auf eine große strukturreformerische Tat in der Universität Ulm: dort hatte man das "kiz" gegründet'. Lassen wir die Ulmer selbst zu Wort kommen: "Das im März 2003 gegründete Kommunikations- und Informationszentrum (kiz) ist eine zentrale Betriebseinheit der Universität Ulm, die aus den ehemals selbständigen Einrichtungen Universitätsrechenzentrum, Universitätsbibliothek und der Zentrale für Photographie, Grafik und Reproduktion gebildet wurde. Integriert wurden auch die Bereiche Audio/Video und Sprachkommunikation des Dezernats VI der zentralen Universitätsverwaltung. Durch Synergieeffekte wird eine Verbesserung und Bündelung der Dienstleistungen erreicht, die den Nutzern der bisher selbständigen Einrichtungen zugänglich waren. Erweitert wird dieses Serviceangebot im Bereich der neuen Medien. ... Intern gliedert sich das kiz zur Erbringung seiner vielfältigen Serviceleistungen in fünf Abteilungen: Infosysteme, Infrastruktur, Literaturversorgung, Literaturverwaltung, Medien."
