Der Deutsche Bibliotheksverband will die Rolle der Bibliotheken bei der Aus- und Weiterbildung stärken. Dies gelte vor allem für den Umgang mit dem Internet, sagte DBV-Präsident Christof Eichert bei der Fachtagung "Die Bibliothek der Zukunft" am Mittwoch in Neustadt. Der Mainzer Wissenschaftsminister Professor Jürgen Zöllner (SPD) appellierte bei dem Kongress an die Kommunen, weiter für ihre Bibliotheken zu sorgen. Die Veranstaltung war von der Staatlichen Büchereistelle Rheinhessen-Pfalz anlässlich ihres 80-jährigen Bestehens organisiert worden. "Die Bibliotheken können und sollen Mittler und Betreuer von Angeboten im Bildungsnetz werden", forderte DBV-Präsident Eichert. Bibliotheken seien längst keine Ausleihstellen für die neuesten Krimis mehr. Ihre Bestände seien vielmehr auf Bildung, Weiterbildung und Sachfragen ausgerichtet. Auch beim Umgang mit dem Internet könnten die Bibliotheken Orientierung bieten, sagte Eichert. "Das Internet verkommt zum Unternhaltungsinstrument", kritisierte er. In dieser Situation seien Bibliotheken ein "idealer Lotse", weil sie im Vermitteln und Verwerfen von Informationen geübt seien. Die Bibliotheken könnten zusammen mit Hochschulen und Volkshochschulen Weiterbildungsangebote anbieten. "Es geht um das lebenslange Lernen als Auftrag an uns alle", sagte Eichert. Damit die Bibliotheken dieser Aufgabe nachkommen könnten, bräuchten sie jedoch das nötige Geld. Den Bibliotheken komme bei der Neuorientierung im digitalen Zeitalter eine "zentrale Rolle" zu, sagte Wissenschaftsminister Zöllner. Sie vermittelten zwischen unzähligen Informationen und dem spezifischen Bedarf und würden zu "unentbehrlichen Lotsen in der Informationsgesellschaft". Die neuen Informations- und Kommunikationstechnologien verdrängten die Büchereien nicht. Die Ausleihzahlen in den 388 öffentlichen Bibliotheken des Landes seien in den vergangenen JAhren leicht gestiegen
