Abstract

Digitale Publikationen nehmen im Wissenschaftsbetrieb wie auch im gesellschaftlichen Leben insgesamt einen immer höheren Stellenwert ein. Die Erhaltung des digitalen kulturellen und wissenschaftlichen Erbes stellt nicht zuletzt die Bibliotheken angesichts des raschen technologischen Wandels im Bereich der Hard- und Software vor eine neue Aufgabe: die Langzeitarchivierung (LZA) zur Sicherung der dauerhaften Verfügbarkeit ihrer erworbenen, gesammelten und selbst produzierten digitalen Ressourcen. Im Folgenden wird zunächst skizziert, in welcher Weise die BSB in überregionale und nationale Aktivitäten zur Langzeitarchivierung als einer nur gemeinschaftlich zu lösenden Aufgabe eingebunden ist. Sodann wird ausführlich die bereits bewährte Praxis bei der Archivierung der eigenen Digitalisate beschrieben. Mit einem soeben begonnenen Pilotprojekt zur Langzeitarchivierung heterogener Netzpublikationen verschiedener Provenienz sollen diese Erfahrungen auf das gesamte Spektrum ausgedehnt werden. Abschließend werden die Bemühungen und mögliche Perspektiven der Bayerischen Staatsbibliothek in Zusammenhang mit dem Erhalt von datenträgergebundenen Medien dargestellt.
