Abstract
Im Oktober 2006 wird die Systematik für Bibliotheken (SfB) in einer neuen, überarbeiteten Auflage erscheinen. Die Neuauflage wurde gemeinsam von der Stadtbibliothek Bremen, der Büchereizentrale Schleswig-Holstein, der Stadtbücherei Frankfurt/Main und der Stadtbibliothek Hannover bearbeitet. Die Redaktion liegt bei der Stadtbibliothek Hannover.

"Die Systematik für Bibliotheken (SfB) umfasst 31 Fachgebiete mit mehreren Formal- und Sachschlüsseln. Die SfB ist eine Aufstellungssystematik, deren hierarchische Gliederung es erlaubt, sie in Bibliotheken unterschiedlicher Größe und Schwerpunktsetzung einzusetzen. Neben zahlreichen Öffentlichen gehören auch wissenschaftliche Bibliotheken zu den Anwendern. Die Aktualisierung, Pflege und Weiterentwicklung der SfB erfolgt in Kooperation durch die genannten vier Bibliotheken. Nachdem in der letzten Fassung - das update erschien 2003 - das Fach Geschichte grundlegend revidiert wurde, werden in der neuen Auflage die Fächer Kunst, Soziologie und Sozialpolitik neu strukturiert angeboten. In den anderen Fächern sind vor allem Aktualisierungen vorgenommen worden, so dass der Änderungsaufwand für die Anwenderbibliotheken gering ist. Zusätzlich zu den Fachsystematiken wird es auf Wunsch zahlreicher Anwender im Anhang Mustersystematiken zur Erschließung der Literatur einer Stadt und einer Region sowie eine Änderungsliste geben. Sowie mit der grundsätzlichen Revision einzelner Fachsystematiken als auch mit der kontinuierlichen Systematikpflege verfolgen die Herausgeber das Ziel, den Bedürfnissen der Bibliotheken nach einem praxistauglichen Erschließungsinstrument entgegen zu kommen. In Absprache mit dem Saur Verlag, der die gedruckte SfB mit Stand 1997 vertreibt, bieten die Herausgeber allen SfB-Kunden die neu überarbeitete Fassung als PDF-Version passwortgeschützt im Internet an."
