Abstract

Primary state legal material contains the laws of a particular state as passed by the state legislature, as adopted by state government agencies, or as determined by the state's courts. AACR2 and the Library of Congress Rule intixpretations have very specific instructions on how these materials are to be cataloged. This article discusses what legal material is contained in state reports, court rules, session laws, codes of law, administrative codes, and attorney general opinions; and it examines the application of the cataloging rules and rule interpretations in each case.
