Abstract

The rapid developments in information technology, networks (Internet and WWW), document delivery and user training, as well as economic changes, mean that the conventional role of librarians as information intermediaries must undergo an inevitable change. The imminent arrival of virtual reality, (the receiving of imagese enabling direct interaction with the information), will force librarians to reeducate themselves if they are ready to avoid being displaced by a variety of contenders in the information business.
