Abstract

Full and detailed catalogue descriptions of audiovisual materials are essential if there is to be effective use of cllection. Looks at the ways in which users may wish to access filma. Films are fragile and so unnecassary use should be avoided. A film cannot be browsed as can a book. Discusses six different categories of requests: filmographic, form/genre, style/technique, stock shot, story motif, category of film maker or intended audience. Lists international cataloguing rules and relevant publications including those designed for use with films
