Abstract

Informationskompetenz ist ein Mosaik aus Einstellungen, Verhaltensweisen, Fähigkeiten und Wissen über das mehrere Mythen existieren. Ein erster Mythos liegt in der Fähigkeit der Nutzung von Informations- und Kommunikationstechnologien für den Zugriff auf (brauchbare) Information. Ein zweiter besteht darin, dass Studienanfänger heutzutage über Informationskompetenz verfügen, weil studienzentriertes, Quellen basiertes und IuK fokussiertes Lernen heute schon die Phase der Sekundarbildung durchdringen. Ein dritter Mythos besteht darin, anzunehmen, dass Informationskompetenz durch bibliothekszentrierte und exemplarische Annäherung vermittelt werden kann. Ein vierter besteht in der Vorstellung von effektiver Informationsnutzung. Weil Informationskompetenz das "Erlernen des Lernens" bedeutet, sollte sie als Katalysator und Rahmen einer Neukonzeption der formalen Ausbildung sowohl bezogen auf die Durchführung als auch auf deren Ergebnisse für das informationshungrige 21. Jahrhundert genutzt werden.
