Abstract

In diesem Artikel werde ich einige Probleme der rechnergestützten Alphabetisierung beschreiben, die aufkommen, wenn die zu sortierenden Zeichenfolgen nationale Sonderzeichen beinhalten. Die von mir untersuchten kommerziellen Softwareprogramme sind alle unzulänglich, indem die jeweiligen länderspezifischen lexikographischen Alphabetisierungsregeln nicht ausreichend - wenn überhaupt - berücksichtigt sind, was unbefriedigend ist. Nach der Beschreibung von Alphabetisierungsprinzipien und einer Darstellung einiger der im Computerbereich zu bewältigenden Probleme lege ich meinen Vorschlag zu einem Algorithmus vor, der möglichst viele der lösbaren Probleme berücksichtigen sollte. Ich habe aus Rücksicht auf Sprachwissenschaftler ohne größere Programmierkenntnisse versucht, einen großen Teil meiner Darstellung allgemein verständlich zu halten, und habe die schwierigsten computertechnischen Beschreibungen zuletzt kommen lassen.
