Abstract

An der Universitäts- und Landesbibliothek Sachsen-Anhalt in Halle (ULB) läuft seit nunmehr fast zwölf Jahren das DFG-Projekt zur Erfassung der im deutschen Sprachraum erschienenen Drucke des 17. Jahrhunderts in dem nationalbibliografischen Verzeichnis VD 17. Im folgenden wird eine erste Bilanz der Arbeiten der ULB am Projekt gezogen. Der eigentliche Projektabschluss wird für Frühjahr 2008 erwartet.

Vorläufer, Vorarbeiten Zwölf Jahre sind für die Arbeit an einem DFG-Projekt eine außerordentlich lange Zeit: es lässt sich allein aus dieser Dauer ablesen, dass zum einen umfangreiche finanzielle Mittel eingesetzt worden sein dürften, zum anderen aber auch, dass eine erhebliche Arbeitsaufgabe zu bewältigen war. Eine Bestandsaufnahme der Literatur des 17. Jahrhunderts galt jahrzehntelang als ein großes Desiderat des deutschen Bibliothekswesens und wurde immer wieder eingefordert. Gerhard Dünnhaupt, der das Wort vom barocken Eisberg prägte , wies mit diesem Bild eindringlich auf die große unbekannte Masse der Literatur des 17. Jahrhunderts hin. Sein Bibliographisches Handbuch der Barockliteratur, das allein 200 Personalbibliografien deutscher Autoren des 17. Jahrhunderts versammelt, lässt bereits Vielfalt und den Umfang der Texte der Zeit erkennen. Dünnhaupts Verdienste um die Erschließung der deutschen Barockliteratur sind bekanntlich außerordentlich. Der Verfasser der bislang einzigen kommentierten Bibliografie zur deutschen Barockliteratur stammt übrigens aus der Region des heutigen Bundeslandes Sachsen-Anhalt - er wurde in Bernburg als Sohn eines Köthener Buchdruckers geboren. Aber auch er konnte mit seiner Bibliografie, die mittlerweile als Standardwerk gilt und mit dem internationalen Prix Triennal de Bibliographie ausgezeichnet wurde, die Verzeichnung der Drucke des 17. Jahrhunderts nicht vollständig abbilden. Die Bibliografie hat den Focus nämlich auf literarischen Werken.
