Abstract

Bibliothekskatastrophen sind Ereignisse, die aus Fakten und Rhetorik bestehen und unsere Wahrnehmung auf die großen Untergänge fixieren, die sich zu Geschichten verdichten lassen. Tatsächlich sind diese Katastrophen aber nichts weiter als singuläre Ereignisse, die, und seien sie noch so groß, den kulturellen Kanon niemals gefährdet haben. Wer daher wissen will, was Bibliothekskatastrophen wirklich sind, muss sich jenseits der Rhetorik der Großereignisse auf die Suche nach dem Unscheinbaren und scheinbar Freundlichen machen, das als Zeit die Dinge dekompostiert und als instrumentelle Vernunft auch für den Untergang eine Lösung kennt.
