Abstract
An der Universitätsbibliothek Wien wurde 2007 ein Projekt gestartet, das die Implementierung eines Digital Asset Management Systems (DAMS) zum Ziel hatte. Die Vielzahl an Inhalten in den Bereichen Forschung und Lehre, die heute fast vollständig in digitaler Form verfügbar ist, sollte entsprechend langfristig archiviert und verwaltet werden. Nur so können die Aufgaben einer modernen Universität, u.a. die Bereitstellung einer benutzerfreundlichen technischen Infrastruktur zur Unterstützung von Lehre und Forschung wahrgenommen werden) Am Tag genau ein Jahr nach Projektbeginn, am 16. April 2008, wurde Phaidra online gestellt. (https://phaidra.univie.ac.at) Phaidra eröffnet für Lehre, Forschung, Verwaltung/Organisationseinheiten und die einzelnen Akteurinnen die Möglichkeit, ihre Publikationsleistungen zu speichern, dokumentieren und auf lange Zeit zu archivieren. Mit diesem vielseitigen System, das zusammen mit der Universitätsbibliothek Wien, mit dem Zentrum für Lehrentwicklung, der Fakultät für Physik, dem Zentrum für Translationswissenschaft, der Fakultät für Lebenswissenschaften und der Fakultät für Informatik entwickelt wurde und vom Zentralen Informatikdienst der Universität Wien technisch betreut wird, ist es möglich, digitale Objekte dauerhaft zu speichern und - wenn gewünscht - weltweit zugänglich zu machen. Die gespeicherten Objekte erhalten einen zitierfähigen permanenten Link, ähnlich einer Buchsignatur. Damit ist Phaidra sehr vielfältig einsetzbar.
