Abstract
"Treffen sich Archivare, Bibliothekare, Museologen und Informatiker zu Weiterbildung und Erfahrungsaustausch..." Noch vor nicht allzu langer Zeit hätte dies ein Kurzwitz gewesen sein können, denn die gegenseitige Abgrenzung wurde nicht selten gehegt und gepflegt. Und allzu oft wurde (und wird leider noch immer) die Meinung kolportiert, es sei geradezu unmöglich zwischen Kulturwissenschaftlern auf der einen und IT-Spezialisten auf der anderen Seite vernünftig zu kommunizieren, da die gemeinsame Sprachbasis fehle. Die Wirklichkeit sieht anders aus, denn diese Berufsgruppen eint aufgrund des technologischen Wandels mittlerweile ein gemeinsamer Problemgegenstand: Der Umgang mit einer stetig wachsenden Zahl ausschließlich elektronisch vorliegender Informationen und der gesellschaftliche Auftrag, diese verlustfrei und authentisch in die nächsten Generationen zu transferieren. Unterschiede bestehen dabei im Zugang und in der Herangehensweise an dieses Problem, die jedoch sehr wohl kommunizierbar sind. Einerseits lassen sich natürlich Divergenzen im Verständnis nach wie vor ebenso wenig leugnen, wie es andererseits zunehmend deutlich wird, dass sich in der Praxis terminologische Gegensätze oftmals als Synonyma desselben Problemgegenstandes erweisen. Fachliche Grenzen sind im Begriff zu verschwimmen. Die Erkenntnis über die gegenseitige Abhängigkeit wächst. Man macht und muss - angesichts des sonst drohenden Informationsverlustes - Ernst machen mit der Vernetzung von Kulturgutbewahrern und IT-Spezialisten. Das komplexe Thema der Langzeitarchivierung elektronischer Daten ist aufgrund der gesellschaftsübergreifenden Brisanz längst nicht mehr die Spielwiese einiger weniger Spezialisten. Dies ist der Ansatz und gleichzeitig das Verdienst des nun schon einige Jahre existierenden nestor-Kompetenznetzwerkes Langzeitarchivierung und der in diesem Rahmen stattfindenden und vom EU-Projekt DPE (DigitalPreservationEurope) unterstützten Schools, die sich in ihrem didaktischen Vorgehen am Vorbild der Delos Summer Schools orientieren. Hauptschwerpunkt der einmal jährlich stattfindenden einwöchigen Veranstaltungen ist es, Vertreter der verschiedenen Gedächtnisorganisationen und der IT-Branche gemeinsam für die Probleme der digitalen Langzeitarchivierung zu sensibilisieren und existierende Lösungsansätze vorzustellen. Die berufliche Herkunft der Teilnehmer ist entsprechend breit gestreut und reicht von National-, Landes- und Kommunalmuseen- und -bibliotheken über Staats-, Stadt- und Wirtschaftsarchive bis zu Forschungs- und Bildungsinstitutionen. Den Veranstaltern ist es bisher gelungen, führende Vertreter der "digitalen Langzeitarchivierungscommunity" als Referenten zu gewinnen. Hoch ist damit der Mehrwert für die Teilnehmer. Es hat sich mittlerweile herumgesprochen, dass die Vorträge durchweg von einer hohen Praxisorientierung gekennzeichnet sind. Die frühzeitige Ausbuchung und die Anzahl der Teilnehmer sprechen dabei eine deutliche Sprache.

Darin (S.1264): "Frau Professor Regine Scheffel (Hochschule für Technik, Wirtschaft und Kultur Leipzig), gab als Einführungsvortrag einen Überblick über die Begrifflichkeit, die Strategien und die Modelle der Langzeitarchivierung. Wichtige Aspekte der Langzeitarchivierung machte sie anhand von aktuellen Modellen deutlich, insbesondere mithilfe des Modells von Thibodeau, bei dem drei Betrachtungsebenen, das heißt das konzeptionelle, das logische und das physische Objekt unterschieden werden. In ihrem Vortrag legte Frau Professor Regine Scheffel einen Schwerpunkt auf die Behandlung der Metadaten als strukturierte Daten über Objekte. Um die Beschreibung, die Suchbarkeit und das Auffinden der Objekte zu realisieren, müssen Metadaten mit dem jeweiligen digitalen Objekt verbunden werden. Als Ansatzpunkt dafür dient das Dublin Core Modell. Als Referenzmodell für ein Archivsystem innerhalb des Produzenten-Konsumenten-Verhältnisses stellte sie das OAIS vor. OAIS steht für Open Archival Information System bzw. Offenes Archiv-Informations-System (ISO-Standard 14721:2003). Es beschreibt allgemein die notwendigen Organisationsstrukturen und Prozessabläufe eines Archivsystems, in dem Mensch und Technik zusammenwirken, um digitales Archivgut verfügbar zu halten. Der Teilnehmer erhielt mit diesem Vortrag einen Überblick über Umgang, Formate und Metadaten der digitalen Objekte."
