Abstract

Während der nationalsozialistischen Herrschaft wurde im Deutschen Reich und in den von ihm besetzten Gebieten "eine kaum vorstellbare Menge an Kunstwerken und Kulturgütern geraubt, darunter Gemälde, Skulpturen und Silber, aber auch ganze Bibliotheken, Musikinstrumente und wertvolle Archive."' Ein großer Teil dieses hauptsächlich aus dem Eigentum von Juden stammenden Raubguts gelangte dabei in den Besitz staatlicher Einrichtungen wie Archive, Bibliotheken und Museen, aber auch in die Hände privater Sammler in Deutschland und dem Ausland.
