Abstract

Die Dokumente in Bibliothekskatalogen weisen neben den formalen meist auch inhaltliche Erschließungselemente auf. Im Katalog des Südwestverbunds besitzen zahlreiche Publikationen SWD-Schlagwörter und -ketten sowie Notationen der RVK. Im Anschluss an ein Projekt zur automatischen Vergabe von RVK-Notationen an der Universitätsbibliothek Mannheim wurden aus den SWD-Schlagwörtern und RVK-Notationen der Datensätze im Verbund automatische Korrelationen generiert. Die vorliegende Arbeit beinhaltet die Ergebnisse der Analyse dieser Korrelationen. Dabei wird sowohl auf die Konkordanz der beiden Dokumentationssprachen eingegangen, die über die SWD-gerechten Registerbegriffe der RVK ermöglicht wird, als auch auf Unterschiede, die etwa über Heterogenität entstehen. Nachdem zunächst nur die automatischen Korrelationen näher betrachtet wurden, konnten diese zudem mit den Notationen und Registerbegriffen der RVK-Online-Konkordanz verglichen werden. Abschließend werden verschiedene Möglichkeiten aufgezeigt, wie die RVK-SWD-Korrelationen in der Praxis angewandt werden können.
