Abstract

Ein Regelwerk für den Schlagwortkatalog sollte Bibliotheken die Führung von Schlagwortkatalogen bzw. die verbale Indexierung von Dokumenten mit Schlagwörtern ermöglichen. Die Schlagwortkataloge treten in unterschiedlicher materieller Erscheinungsform auf, z. B. als konventionelle Karten- oder Mikrofiche-Kataloge (hierfür muß ein Regelwerk dann auch Sortierregeln bereitstellen), inzwischen aber auch als integraler Bestandteil von interaktiv abzufragenden Online-Katalogen. Zunehmend treten dabei Gesichtspunkte einer kooperativen Sachkatalogisierung bei möglichster Inanspruchnahme zentraler Dienstleistungen in das Blickfeld bundesdeutscher Öffentlicher und wissenschaftlicher Bibliotheken. Kann ein Regelwerk, können die "Regeln für den Schlagwortkatalog: RSWK" diesen Anforderungen gerecht werden? Wir wollen dieser Frage im Rahmen dieser Rezension ein wenig nachgehen.
