Discusses the research of the Information and Documentation Department of Darmstadt Polytechnic. The work surveyed the data processing equipment of medium sized organizations by 71 interviews. Describes the use of database and document management systems at management level and suggests future trends in these systems. Defines database systems and document management systems. Concludes that increasing automation will produce a corresponding need for training
