Abstract
Digitalisierung von Kulturgut steht bei Bibliotheken hoch im Kurs. Doch da die entstehenden digitalen Sammlungen meist nicht im Volltext durchsuchbar sind, bleiben sie in ihrer Nutzbarkeit beschränkt. Druckwerke können durch OCR erschlossen werden, doch die elektronisch erzeugten Texte sind trotz allem technischen Fortschritt nach wie vor nicht fehlerfrei. Für Handschriften kommt weiterhin meist nur die Transkription durch menschliche Bearbeiter in Frage. Durch Crowdsourcing werden die Nutzer an der Erstellung und Korrektur von Volltexten beteiligt. Dieser Artikel stellt drei Beispiel unterschiedlicher Größe und Zielsetzung zur Erschließung von Zeitungsbeständen und neuzeitlichen Autographen durch freiwillige Beiträger vor. Er argumentiert, dass Crowdsourcing für die Erschließung historischer Bibliotheksbestände geeignet ist und sich durch die aktive Beteiligung der Nutzer ein Mehrwert für beide Seiten ergibt.
