Abstract
Seuberts Buch analysiert die digitale Revolution jenseits von Euphorie und Apokalypse. Der Autor begreift die Digitalisierung als umfassende mediale Veränderung, die auf einer Ebene mit der Erfindung des Buchdrucks zu sehen ist. Die Transformationen in Entscheidungsprozessen und Denkformen werden prägnant und profund interpretiert: in ihrer Wirkung auf den Einzelnen und die Gesellschaft. Medien- und technikphilosophische Ansätze von Heidegger über Gotthard Günther und Vilém Flusser werden bildungstheoretisch und politisch-philosophisch reflektiert und weitergeführt. Auf diese Weise kristallisiert sich das ausgewogene Plädoyer für eine kluge, von Urteilskraft getragene Nutzung des Digitalen heraus. Digitalisierung kann zu einem neuen weltbürgerlichen Bewusstsein beitragen. Die wesentlichen Probleme des 21. Jahrhunderts (wie Veränderungen der Sicherheitsstruktur und des Migrationsverhaltens) sind aber nicht durch Digitalisierung allein zu bewältigen. Deshalb plädiert Seubert für eine parallele Kultivierung analoger Fähigkeiten und Diskurse.
