Describes a research project undertaken at the Jet Propulsion Lab., Calif., under contract to NASA through its Planetary Data System, to investigate CD-ROMs for use as primary media for archival data storage. Reports results of quality and longevity tests, conducted by the Data Distribution Laboratory, on 2 of the oldest CD-ROMs in existence as well as samples of other CD recordable media
