Abstract

Presents a review of the literature on title changes - how librarians have criticized publishers for making them, the reasons title changes have occurred, and how much they cost. Much of the criticism is unjustified because the number of unacceptable changes is not as high as critics have suggested it is and the costs are not as significant as has been thought. Librarians are not the end users of serials; it is the readers who play this part. Whether or not a title should be changed is of concern more to publishers and readers than librarians
