Abstract

The problem with providing access to historic photographs is to combine a visual representation of the record with its textual description, and to have this finding aid available in a format that allows the identification of relevant information through a wide range of search criteria including subject, photographer, date, place and format. Describes the background to a decision on the part of Toronto Harbour Commission to store images of its historcal photographs on optical disc in analog format
