Abstract

Librarians must decide which end-user systems to offer to patrons. Some factors to consider are user friendliness, cost, databases offered, hours of availability and search options. Compares OCLC's FirstSearch, BRS / After Dark and Knowledge Index. These systems offer menus, are widely used and cost comparatively less to search than the full services. Runs comparison searches from ERIC examining why retrieval deffered and how the end-user is affected
