Abstract

Academic establishments frequently produce software which could be of use to other workers but which does not have a market sufficiently large to make it attractive to commercial software publishing centres. The aim of Akademische Software Kooperation (ASK), Germany, is to provide information about software and deliver the software itself (both public domain and commercial) to users via the Internet. Briefly describes the function of the Software Information System (ASK-SYS); and ASK-SAM, the service devoted to the distribution of public domain software
