Abstract

While the development of library network systems and OPACs is still at the discussion stage in Germany, integrated online retrieval system have been used in information centres for some time. Describes the OKAPI project at the UK and the PICA project in Holland and discusses the 'Informationsverbund Internationale Beziehungen und Länderkunde' and the 'Informationsring Kreditwirtschaft', 2 examples of cooperative online database systems needing intellectual indexing for good results
