Abstract

Archivists and librarians who convert their holdings to electronic format can, by using imaging technology, secure the safety of the original documents while creating substantially greater opportunities for using the information contained therein. A brief introduction to document imaging technology is followed by an identification of 6 advantages of imaging technology for archives. Lists 8 common objections to the technique and addresses data security issues in the context of improved services
