Abstract

Datenautobahnen, interaktives Fernsehen, Multimedia, Mailboxen und Internet - diese und andere Begriffe geistern nun schon seit einiger Zeit durch die Medien. Die einen versprechen sich von den neuen Medientechnologien, daß die Menschen zukünftig besser, schneller und weltweit miteinander kommunizieren und sich informieren können. Somit könnten die Medien nun endlich einen angemessenen Beitrag zur Demokratisierung leisten. Andere Stimmen hingegen weisen auf Konzentrationsprozesse im Mediensektor hin, die mit dem Aufbau der neuen Medien verbunden sind. Auch die neuen Medien sind nicht frei von ökonomischen 'Zwängen' und Machtverhältnissen
