Abstract
Die Autoren suchen nach Antworten, warum die Faszination um das Internet anhält und welche Lücken die Diskussion darüber aufweist. Ersteres beantworten sie mit den horrenden Meldungen über die Zahl der Informationsangebote und Nutzer, dem scheinbar kostenfreien Navigieren durch das Netz, den chaotisch-anarchischen Entwicklungen und dem gleichzeitigen Entstehen erster Inseln von Ordnung und Qualitätssicherung sowie der Eroberung des deutschen Informationsmarktes, der den Anbietern neue Wirkungskreise eröffnet. Wesentliche Aspekte bleiben aber in der Diskussion unbeachtet: da niemand die Grenzen des Netzes kennt, besteht die Gefahr, dem Thema nicht genug Tiefe geben zu können. Sie fordern pragmatischen Nutzen und mahnen die Kosten, Erträge, bisher gewonnenen kommerziellen Erfahrungen und notwendigen rechtlichen Regulierungen an, über die künftig nachgedacht werden sollte
