Abstract

Der Schwerpunkt des EDV-Einsatzes in den deutschen Archiven liegt auf der Archivalienerschließung. Dabei gilt bisher der Grundsatz, daß sich EDV-Lösungen an den bewährten archivischen Arbeitsmethoden orientieren müssen. Die eingesetzten Applikationen basieren entweder auf Datenbankprogrammen, Dokumentationssystemen oder Textverarbeitungsprogrammen mit ihren programmartspezifischen Vor- und Nachteilen. Aus archivfachlicher Sicht nicht unproblematisch ist das Online-Retrieval in archivischen Erschließungsdaten. In der Zukunft werden sich zunehmend integrierte EDV-Systeme, in denen Erschließungs- und Archivverwaltungsfunktionen miteinander verknüpft sind, durchsetzen. Bis heute weitgehend weder theoretisch noch praktisch gelöst ist die Übernahme maschinenlesbarer Unterlagen aus den Verwaltungen in die Archive. Hierzu werden im vorliegenden Beitrag Thesen zur Diskussion gestellt
