Abstract

Traces the development of the Internet and in particular AARNet describing the initial impetus for the development, the exponential growth and the services provided by the network. Examines the changes that AARNet has brought to information market channel structures Australia within the context of the library and information business. Describes the library contribution to the development of AARNet services highlighting specific eamples of library involvement in the development of the AARNet's potential. Explores the issues confronting AARNet and the role libraries should play in contributing to their resolution
