Abstract

The explosive growth in international trade and immigration demands developing language independent documents. More and more communicators are turning to graphics as a universal language. This naive approach can backfire, for graphics are not universals unless expressly designed as such, by relying on images shared by all and by avoiding details that confuse or offend, graphics can be made independent of verbal language and of culture
